Firmhouse offers two subscription widgets that allow your customers to select the subscription option they want to sign up for. In this article, we will go over the widget options and the use cases in which they are best suited.

Subscription Options Widget

Our Subscription Options widget is the most versatile and permissive one. It allows customers to combine product variants, quantities, and subscription frequencies freely without restriction, creating a customizable signup experience.

The Subscription Options widget is our most widely used widget, and it has proven to perform well across multiple industries. It comes in 3 display variations:

Dropdown

This display option shows all the purchase options for the product in one dropdown, including the one-time purchase and subscription options.

When is it best to use this option?

This option is best suited for merchants who want to keep it simple and don't necessarily wish to show all the purchase options as soon as the PDP is loaded.

Pills

This display option shows each purchase option for the product individually. Each subscription option and the one-time purchase option are shown in an individual pill:

When is it best to use this option?

This option is best used when you have a limited number of subscription options that you want to show at a quick glance.

Cards

This display option shows the one-time purchase and the subscription options in two separate cards, with the monthly subscription option containing a dropdown for the subscription frequency.

When is it best to use this option?

This option is best used when you want something a little more complex than the standard pills or dropdown, while keeping the subscription selection more flexible than what the Subscription First Widget offers.

Subscription First Widget

The Subscription First widget is the more complex widget option we offer. It shows a card for each subscription option, which can contain USPS, unit prices, discount labels, and a "most wanted/popular" tag. For one-time purchases, it shows a separate cart with a dropdown for the product variants

A few examples of other merchants using the Subscription first widget in their store can be seen below.

When is it best to use this widget?

This widget is best suited when you sell a product with a predictable usage rate and want to link the quantity and frequency closely (30 pieces every month, 60 pieces every 2 months, etc). It usually works great in the supplements industry.
