Using the grid to decide what to test first
The grid plots your assumptions on two axes: How much you know about it, and how much impact it has on your business if it turns out false. The high-impact assumptions you know little about are the ones you should focus on first:
However, the assumptions that are low impact but you know little about are also important, as you might find out they're higher impact than you'd thought as you start testing them!
The assumptions that are high impact and you're certain of are the ones to plan for, and the assumptions you're certain of are low impact can be safely ignored.

When you start adding assumptions you'll notice they have different colours. This is to visually indicate what areas of the BMC (Business Model Canvas) it's covering. You can find the legend underneath the grid:
