You can assign and deassign assets from customers. This allows you to keep track of which asset is currently owned or used by which customer. Or you can indicate that the asset is not in owned or in use by a customer anymore.
The are a couple of ways to assign and de-assign an asset from a customer. You can do so via the Assets overview. Or you can do so from a Customer detail page.
Assigning a customer by editing the asset
You can assign an asset to a customer by editing the asset.
Steps:
In your Firmhouse project, go to Assets in the sidebar.
Click on the row of the asset you would like to assign the customer from.
On the asset detail page, click Edit in the top right.
Select a customer to assign to the asset from the Owned by dropdown.
Click Update.
De-assigning a customer by editing the asset
You can de-assign an asset from being owned by anyone by editing the asset.
Steps:
In your Firmhouse project, go to Assets in the sidebar.
Click on the row of the asset you would like to de-assign ownership form.
On the asset detail page, click Edit in the top right.
From the Owned by dropdown, select -- Not assigned --
Click Update.
Assigning an asset from the Customer detail page
You can assign an asset straight from a Customer detail page. Assigning assets here allows you to quickly assign multiple assets to the customer.
Please note: only the assets with status available are eligible for assignment from the customer page.
Steps:
In your Firmhouse project, go to Customers in the sidebar.
Click on the row of the customer you want to assign an asset to.
On the customer detail page, scroll down to the Assets section.
Click the Assign asset button.
In the Asset asset dialog, find the asset you want to assign.
Click Apply.
